In February, the enormous trucks of the beekeepers of Florida travel to the fertile California plains. Pollination of almond trees means one and half million of hives are put into action, and the disappearance of pollinators means prices are soaring. Renting a hive for four weeks of pollination costs nearly $150. This road movie paints the portrait of two generations of an American beekeeping family facing the disappearance of their insects, all unfolding on a backdrop of wide, open spaces and endless sky. A story of the American myth and the nation’s environment, with colony collapse disorder, insecticides and agro-industry as the antagonists.
